from Chapter 234 President Bill Ross
We said our sorrowful farewells to the Denton's at Christ the King Catholic Church in Acme on May the 20th. Their graciousness, charm and joy filled the room and the sky. I miss them.
Good convo and good pizza await you this Thursday at our monthly gathering on Thursday 8 June at 6:30 PM. Don't be late. Bo White will be talking with us. He's a builder, a former Air Force pararescueman and served in the US Army's SOC. Of late he's been, frequently, in and out of Ukraine. Read this Glen Arbor Sun article to get a sense of the man.
Summer is hard upon us, and we can say "Goodbye to IMC, our grouch old friend". We're putting up pictures in the office so, should you have a picture of your plane, you, or an item of interest, send it to me and up it will go.
Our last Young Eagles outing was with L.I.F.T, Little Finger Thermaleers, at Peplinski field out Lake Ann way. Fred, Peter, and Phil of L.I.F.T. were superb in assisting in getting our kids and their airplanes, that they built, aloft. Those guys are the real deal. Hike on out there and see them. I first saw soaring RC gliders on the Wasserkuppe about a millennia ago, they were cool then and still are.
Kate Barnum, one of our Ray scholarship recipients, soloed! (See photo above.) Congratulations to her for her persistence and grit. She persevered through the miserable winter flying season, stuck it out, and she's now on her way to her Private Pilot.
Bill Birch earned the Charles Taylor Master Mechanic award on the 23rd of the month. It is a distinct award reflecting 50 years of sterling service as an aviation mechanic; precious few people receive the award.
We're flying Young Eagles and feeding our bellies and our souls on Saturday the 10th of June at Y87, William Bolton Field in Empire starting at 0830. Volunteer to fly, to work the flight line, to kibitz, and to work with Jennifer on our breakfast. Come one, come all.
Next Month: OSH!
Thank you for all you do, you make this chapter fun, rewarding, interesting, and educational.
